What’s good about rejection? an author’s perspective

Rejection is part of sales and writers find this out when they peddle their efforts to publishers or directly to customers.  Like in romance, and in fund raising, there are ways for people to spare themselves the agony of a lot of rejection in order to get into situations where there is plenty of repeat business.

For writers, that sometimes comes from good relationships with editors well positioned in publications or publishing houses.  Of course, that isn’t everything.

Today, is a day when a major publishing house rejected one piece of my work rather than no one having noticed it, or only people who can’t pay taking a look at it.  I’m not sure how good it is, but instead of feeling bad about it, I just feel ‘baseline normal’ whereas if they had told me yes I would be staggered with joy and hoping it was real.
