Stories stories & a medical need for horses

As I make my way around the village and the rest of the small realm of my German experience, in the back of mind is how this terrain is going to help create at least one novel and more stories.  Perhaps it will help generate more philosophy – despite being in English as 3 of the German philosophers are amongst my favorites.  Kant – knowing how to tell the difference between what is in the outside world and what is all in our own heads and having categories for how both ‘sides of the track’ really work.  Hegel – how spirit and progress show how God operates in the world through time with a very hopeful outcome.  Nietzsche – he was a fantastic writer!  Most of his works, as translated by Walter Kaufmann were as good to read as the best novels and essays.  He reached for the future both spiritually and intellectually with some of the rebellious nature of the poets but …perhaps more sobriety or more analytical thinking and detail than the artists.

Today, I had a small success with 2 of the local horses.  I called out to them – just to try to touch them on the head and ‘say Hi’, which is not much…I spoke to them in German…but instead of ignoring me because I am not ‘their human’ they came and let me touch them on the head and say ‘Hi’.  One of them was suffering from flies around the face and one eye and if anyone knows the treatment to get rid of that problem let me know.  I may look it up online and see if a bit of vinegar or anything would help get rid of the flies…or if the flies are medicine rather than predators.

Patio Edging in Doerverden

Well, nowadays the big activity is reclaiming the portion of the patio taken over by plants and ants.  I don’t know if I will take the project as far as it can go, but something was really ‘set off’ when I looked at how some ‘innocent’ plants, just doing their thing, cheerfully overran the boundaries of the patio.  You know how plants are: slow except that if it is Spring or Summer and there is a rain and for 2 or 3 weeks you don’t pay much attention a garden or yard can be overwhelmed with the changes.  Suddenly, they seem fast.  I saw the valiant little tufts of grass out there, and the blur [not caused by going without my eyeglasses actually] of where the patio ends and the yard begins.  When I worked as an assistant gardener many years ago [which was druidry spiritual heaven, heads up OBOD] I got really into all that.  Like most of you I have also seen beautiful images of temples covered or half covered by trees and there roots – plants minding their own business would probably take your house, car and family without a second thought.  Normally, like with small cats, we just think it is funny because it impossible and unthreatening.

The other nice thing about this, is that my being out there working on that has caused at least a few interactions with neighbors.  Today, for all 20 or 30 seconds if that, the interaction lasted, I admitted to a woman German neighbor who lives in a farm house more than one hundred years old…only part of which is habitable right now and there is a small tree literally growing out of the chimney…that what really happened is that I am a human who noticed that other humans built a patio and so I am beating back the plants and rediscovering the patio as it is now.

I have moved a lot of sand and admitted to the man from Kazahkstan days ago that the ants really make good use of the sand humans lay down on top of the ‘regular’ soil for the original setting in the bricks [of course it is brick, this is Germany] and as I pulled up plants and devastated numerous ant colonies I came up with lots of sand.  In fact, I was out there with a little plastic bucket.

All the birds who live around here noticed.

You know sometimes, but not always, we forget that the animals and plants are also here and notice a bunch of stuff that humans …maybe ignore.  Some human is exhibiting territorial behavior.  If you are small and docile and want to feel intimidating just spend a week paying attention to how animals react to you when you move through.

No Girls Allowed

No Girls Allowed.  Check this out.  I am a strong advocate of ‘rights’ and social progress.  I personally enjoyed coed education all the way through into graduate school.

I am aware that the British, and also some Americans and people in other nations like to offer both single sex schools and co-ed schools.  When both single sex and co-ed schools can offer top notch education – in that case I personally don’t care whether or not a school is co-ed or single sex, but want girls and boys, men and women both to be able to get top notch education.

There are both girls and boys who prefer co-ed environments and others who really do better in same gender schools.  I personally liked co-ed but there were years, especially when I was young that I would have been just as happy if I could have received equally good education with other girls as long as the girls weren’t slackers or having lower quality education or standards.   I am also the type of person that, if I happen to want to do something that mainly boys do, then I do not mind being the only girl or one of very few girls in the group when the real reason is my interest.  In such circumstances I prefer to be able to do it where the males aren’t outright hostile but have endured open antagonism in order to do what I needed or wanted.  In most cases, the antagonist male/s figured out that I was tolerable or even OK.

In reality, jockeying for being tolerated and being hard to get rid of, is something that is often part of work life.  If one is hard to get rid of, that’s a good sign.

Blog Here / Blog There – and radiation

Uranium is not inherently so radioactive that it poses a huge threat, but as you all know, ‘things can be done to it’ that make it much more radioactive than it naturally is and at that point: Wow – either it will create a bunch of nice power or everything that crosses its path will be marked by the radiation ‘signature’.   Today, I read a great true story by Nancy Denofio http://angiesdiary.com/society/radiation-past-and-present/.  It is not that happy of a story, but it leads to more.

Yesterday, I think I blogged in 2 places.  Locally, I weeded the lawn and spent a little time ‘mingling’ with locals at a Fitness Studium – this being the only place other than the grocery store and home I have been today.

Right now, the ants and local plants out back have me as their main source of immediate danger but the other humans have experienced me as harmless.

The desktop photo is still of my son, with his father and the 2 younger children produced by the woman who took the photograph.  This is although I have not given up custody of my son.  I hate it whenever I feel I have really been given the short end of the stick but given what I went through as a child, I still feel very good – most of the time about the 50/50 custody deal with my son’s father…Of course it worked even better when we were a family of 3 and lived in the same residence but all we can do is the best we can….and we only live separately due to how bad it got when the adults weren’t playing together well.  They will be back next week.

Chaos Astrology & Catholic Sacraments – Sunny day

Today has been a bright warm day here in Doerverden.  It has really felt like Summer or at least like late Spring in Indianapolis or Central New York only…the Sun set is now near 9:50pm.  The Sun moves quickly up here: as much as a 2 hour change in only 6 to 8 weeks, half in the morning and half at night.

Recent reading has included introductory reading in some of the major catholic rituals. My previous experience with religion and with ritual and the opportunity to get copies of this material all led to it.  It was as costly as a university text book in chemistry to get hold of it.  I won’t whiz through it like a cheap easy reader novel that’s for sure.

I have eaten fresh fruit grown here in the village today.

Of course it was breezy here today.  I’ve heard trees are the lungs of the world but given the way air flows around here, I wouldn’t be surprised if Doerverden is a bronchial passage of the Earth.  Inhaling somewhere is pulling wind from the East to the West, apparently.

Chaos Astrology online offers both free services and services with additional fees.  One of the freebies is a chart of the day – most days I do not look at it, but today I have.

In a news article today I saw that there seems to be real ice and water on the moons of Jupiter meaning either it is too cold for life or else there is massive amounts of life on the moons of Jupiter.  Wow.

I spent a few hours outdoors today.  Not massive amounts of time, but more than a few minutes.  The energy of Summer seems to have reached me.  I feel…energetic and vibrant and warm.  Lots of vitamin D from the Sun.  I don’t see why I should be surprised all the plants around here agree about it.

Writing Samples

All of the other writers out there know about the importance of having writing samples.  These may be easy to find or difficult to come by depending on other factors.

Readers often also like ‘freebies’ but devoted fans will often buy.

Given these realities, today, here are 2 links to creative works by ‘yours truly’:
